

The Fountain Hills Public Forum
The Fountain Hills Public Forum is a joint effort on part of the Fountain Hills
Cultural & Civic Association (FHCCA), the Fountain Hills Community Center and
the Fountain Hills Senior Activity Center to provide quality public speaking
engagements on current topics of public interest. The forum will be held in the
evenings at the Community Center with an approximately one hour topic
followed by a question and answer session. We will be presenting four speakers
for the 2009-2010 year.

stop by the Fountain Hills Community Center and fill out a registration. The
forum is free to all members of Senior Services, the Fountain Hills Cultural &
Civic Association, all teachers and administrators and students 18 years or
younger or with student ID's. Cost for the forum is $5.00 for all others. If you

Dr. Richard J. Caselli - Cognitive Aging and Alzheimer's Disease

Dr. Caselli is a Behavioral Neurologist whose clinical specialty is Alzheimer’s
disease and related cognitive disorders. He is Professor of Neurology in the
Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Chair of the Department of Neurology at the
Mayo Clinic in Arizona, and a member of the Mayo Clinic Arizona Executive
Board. He is Director of the Clinical Core of the Arizona Alzheimer’s Disease
Center, and coordinates the clinical participation of its six member institutions in
the core. He is a past member of the Board of Directors and Medical and
Scientific Advisory Committee of the Alzheimer Association Desert Southwest
Chapter.
Dr. Caselli’s research focuses on aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of
dementia, particularly the way in which genetic risk factors for dementia may
affect how our mind changes with age before the onset of memory loss and
dementia. His findings have been widely published in major biomedical journals,
medical texts, and a forthcoming book on the diagnosis and treatment of
Alzheimer’s disease.

Bonny Bentzin - "Sustainability….Are you in?”
What it is and why you should care. Ways you can contribute from changing light
bulbs to changing policies.

Bonny Bentzin has been with Arizona State University since late 2003 and spent
3 years as the Assistant Director of Sustainability Initiatives in ASU’s Office of the
President designing the foundation of ASU's university-wide sustainability
program. In her current role as the Director of University Sustainability Practices
at ASU's Global Institute of Sustainability (GIOS), she is leading ASU on its
journey to carbon neutrality and integrating sustainability into all of its
operational practices. Currently she is focusing on leading the sustainability
charge at both the tactical and strategic level implementing President Michael
Crow's long-term goals of Zero Waste, Carbon Neutrality, Principled Practice and
100% Community Engagement by integrating sustainability practices at ASU into
such diverse operational areas as water usage, waste management, energy,
buildings, food, transportation and purchasing. Bonny has a degree in
Environmental Problem Solving from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.


Dr. Paul McElligott - 100 MPG Car Build - Falcon Future
March 4th - 6:00pm
Dr. McElligott, Science Chair at Fountain Hills High School, has been an educator
for the last 15 years teaching at the community college level as well as at the
high school. A holder of 8 US Patents, he started work as a senior researcher at
the Pennwalt Corporation, a marketing and commercial development manager at
Union Camp Corporation, and director of research at Hexcel Corporation.
Dr. McElligott has a passion for teaching and leading students into science. His
dream is to start a STEM Center (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) at
Fountain Hills. One of several hands-on projects that inspire his students is the
100 MPG Progressive Insurance X-Prize in which high school students have
participated in the building of a totally green car. The car, anticipated to be
completed this fall, is projected to easily exceed the 100 MPG requirement.
Fountain Hills High School is only one of two high schools in the nation to
participate in this international race of 111 competitors, most of which are
corporations.
FHCCA Public Forum
Neville Cramer - “Fixing the INSanity – America’s Immigration Crisis”
February 11th - 6:00pm
Neville W. Cramer served more than twenty-six years as a law enforcement
officer with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). At the time of his
retirement in 2002, he was one of the most experienced INS Special Agents in
the U.S. Department of Justice. He began his career in 1976, as a U.S. Border
Patrol Agent after serving four years as a police officer in Arizona and Florida.
After his tour of duty on the Mexican border, Cramer served eight years as both
a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent in Chicago, Illinois and
Washington D.C. District Offices.
